Dr. Nathaniel R. Gomer

Director of Sensors Research & Development

Dr. Gomer is a leader of imaging and spectroscopic sensor research and development at ChemImage. He is responsible for managing the R&D Sensors group personnel, mentoring younger scientists, developing new IP, and leading internal and external research projects.

He joined ChemImage as a Senior Scientist in 2012 and was promoted to Principal Scientist in 2016. During that time, he has led or supported numerous programs for counter-IED detection, developed new Raman and hyperspectral imaging sensors and detection techniques, led product training and demonstrations, and supported proposal and IP development.

Dr. Gomer graduated from the University of Florida in 2008 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and earned his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of South Carolina in 2012. He is a recipient of the Tomas B. Hirschfeld Scholar Award, the Society for Applied Spectroscopy’s Graduate Student Award, the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies’ Innovation Award, and the Society for Applied Spectroscopy’s William F. Meggers Award. 

In his free time, Dr. Gomer enjoys traveling, hiking, and gaming with his family.
